General School Rules
Around the school:

Classroom Charter
Each class prepares a maximum of six positively worded rules through consultation under class teacher’s guidance, having regard to the needs of the class, teacher and school. Short, clear charters to be prepared for infant classes by the class teachers.
Rewards in the Classroom include:
- praise
- sticker/ badge/ ink stamp
- merit points
- be on time
- certificate
- homework pass (specific night)
- privilege for individual/ group/ class:
special book loan / extra computer time / favourite lesson / story time / video / tour / end-of-term party
School/Classroom Behaviour Checks:
- warning/reprimand – name recorded and undo damage
- stand up / move place for max. 10 minutes
- work for 10 minutes of break (‘homework’ / ‘housework’)
- (a) move to another classroom for 10 minutes / until assignment is completed to teacher’s satisfaction
(b) lose a privilege - (a) extra homework / redo work (to be signed by parent)
(b) letter of apology (signed by parent) - referral to principal / deputy principal
Criteria for very Serious Misbehaviour:
- deliberate continued defiance bullying, to include verbal or physical abuse (including sexist or racist remarks)
- deliberate damage to property
- continued fighting when asked to stop
- smoking or use of prohibited drugs
Action to be taken following very Serious Misbehaviour:
- referral to the principal or deputy principal who will consult with parents/guardians repair or undo damage caused - 15 minutes detention each day for 1 week
- referral to the principal and the chairperson of the Board of Management who will both meet with parents/guardians
- referral to the Board of Management with view to possible suspension
