Sports
The school’s PTA has a very enthusiastic and active sports sub-committee. In consultation with the teachers, numerous sports activities are organised which compliment the PE programme followed in the school. (The teachers are currently involved in the pilot Primary Schools Sports Initiative, as part of the DES curriculum development programme.)
Athletics
Athletics are held for all classes at the school each Monday afternoon. This is organised and supervised by parent volunteers. Inter-school activities and competitions are held on a regular basis.
Gaelic Football
Co-ordinated and funded by Wicklow GAA, a coach visits the school each Tuesday and works with groups from Fifth and Sixth Classes during school hours.
Hockey
Having been introduced to hockey within the school’s sports programme, hockey is available as an optional activity after school for Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Classes. It is organised by parent representatives from the PTA and held on the Astroturf pitch in Loreto College, Bray each Friday afternoon. Matches against other local schools are organised on a regular basis.
Rugby
This coaching in tip rugby is given to all pupils in Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Classes. It is co-ordinated and funded by the IRFU, Leinster Branch and is held during the school day.
Soccer
The senior classes receive coaching by a parent in the PTA. Matches are played against other local schools during Term 3.
Tennis
Tennis coaching by parent volunteers is available for senior pupils (Fourth
– Sixth Classes). This is held at Greystones Tennis Club and St
Patrick’s Tennis Club.
‘Short tennis’ is taught after school on Fridays to pupils
of junior classes (Infants – Third Class) in the GP room at the
school.
